Singing alongside Brigitte Yaghi at the Desert Fusion event will be Pakistani singing sensation Atif Aslam

ATIF ASLAM IS a Pakistani pop star who has gained notoriety in both his homeland and neighbouring India. Again he has dabbled in the world of playback singing in Indian films including Race and Zeher but is known for his solo albums such as Jal Pari.

Atif, how does it feel to be coming to Dubai for the Desert Fusion event?
It feels great to be a part of it. I’m sure it’ll be fun inshallah.

You’ve been over quite a lot in the past few months, why is that?

I think it is part and parcel of fame and one must always attempt to expand his work limit.

What are your expectations for the performance? What can the crowd expect to see?

The crowd can expect the fusion of my songs and those from the other band, Paris House Addict, a few numbers with Brigitte, plus my new tracks from the movie Prince .

How do you expect to find working with Brigitte?

I have heard her a couple of times and she is really good. I’m sure it’ll be exciting.

What are you currently working on? What have you got lined up for the near future?

I am working in a movie called Bol being directed by the most talented Pakistani film director Shoaib Mansoor.

How do you feel about your success to date? What has been your greatest achievement so far?

It feels like a dream but I feel the unlimited love of people is the biggest achievement, which has made me understand myself better.

For those that are not aware can you describe your style of music?

It’s soft rock type combined with much improvisation and experimentation

Would you consider moving in another direction?

Of course, why not? I will attempt to take my work and talent in many directions.

How do you find being a crossover artist – present in both Pakistan and India?

I think it feels great and it adds responsibility as well, to represent your country in a better light. Plus there is an added benefit that my concert pulls in both a Pakistani and Indian crowd

What are your thoughts on the Pakistani film and music scene? If anything, what would you like to see change?

The Pakistani film scene has changed with movies like Khuda Ke Liye and the music scene is as great as ever. I would definitely like to see more newcomers coming to the scene though.

In your own words, why should people come to the concert?

They should come if they want a quality entertainment show, in a cool environment, which will rock the world.
